Guardian Boab

This piece was not only the first flora artwork of the artist, but the first of the entire series. This piece was inspired from the Boab tree of the Kimberleys Ranges in Western Australia. The artist was captivated by the gnarly branches and the eerie presence of the boab across the plains; the alienness of the tree adds to its understated beauty.

Limited Edition Print Descriptions

Information for sized prints:

·       32 cm x 42 cm

·       42 cm x 42 cm

The prints are true to size of the original painting.

If you are not buying the framed version, the extra white space enables you to cut and frame to your choosing. If you are buying the framed version, the print will have been cut and professionally framed for you.

If framing yourself, the artist recommends allowing for white space around the print to give a fresh, contemporary feel, and to allow for the picture to breathe. When centring the piece in the frame, allow for a little more white space at the base of the print within the frame.

Limited Edition is true to the Original

Preserving the integrity of the original piece, characteristics of the original artwork, and the artist’s rough style, has been preserved. Specific quirks pertaining to the artist’s style, including some of the sketching artefacts such as pencil marks and watercolour blotches, have been retained in the digitally printed version to preserve authenticity and to pay homage to the mediums used.

About the Process: Limited Edition Prints

The original artwork for this piece was created with watercolour and pen. Concept drawings, sketches and outlines are aggregated onto sketch paper, and then transferred onto a watercolour sheet to be outlined. The originals are then painted, re-outlined and detailed with finishing touches. Creating the Limited Edition Prints involves scanning the artwork to create the digital render which is then digitally cleaned and adapted ready for print at a professional artists’ quality printing house. Only a set number of prints are made in order to preserve the integrity of the original artwork.
